In conclusion..Although you may not have an issue with blood, many other patients do. People will come up with a list of excuses to avoid getting stuck and having their blood drawn. A critical part of the phlebotomist’s responsibilities is in soft skills including the ability to calm down a patient and walk them through the process of the procedure with thoughtfulness patience. A good phlebotomist can balance the pressures of working in a fast-paced environment yet still keep a calm demeanor that will help to ease the patient’s and give them a good experience. They have a desire to help other, pay close attention to detail and have the ability to multitask.
My job as phlebotomist was a very beneficial experience for me because it allowed me to see all the work involved in the medical team and how things function in the medical environment. I learned how communication and teamwork are critically important in a center free of problems. I love the way that people are able to talk to each other in a way others wouldn’t understand unless you have been educated. I felt like that was where I was meant to be, no matter what hospital just around medicine and the practice itself. I know that I have sets of goals that require focus and determination. Becoming a Phlebotomist I was able to jumpstart my career and get my foot in the door in the medical field. I wanted to pursue the phlebotomy program at the CNM because I felt that it would help me get one step closer to becoming a doctor and it will allow me the chance to build my experience in the healthcare field while I pursue a pre-med degree. Being a specialized medical assistant that collects blood and other tissue samples makes phlebotomists a very critical component to any healthcare team. They are able to participate in laboratory testing so they can help provide research and aid, in the medical laboratory to find cures for today’s deadly and infectious diseases that plague our community. Obtaining a phlebotomy certification allows you to be a part of one of the most in demand aspects in the health care field. Having a job like this helps you get your foot in the door with other jobs associated in the medial field. Phlebotomists can more easily transition into a medical assisting or nursing program than someone who has little or no experience on this aspect. This is because as a phlebotomist, you are working with patients on a regular daily basis, the rotations and understandings that come with working in a field like this begin to build up and a person can use this job and experience to help jumpstart their career in the medical filed. The skills to successfully draw blood are always needed making the demand for phlebotomists quite high. |
